5 New Ways to Wear Cat Eyes

Like red lips, classic cat eyes will never go out of style. But that doesn't mean you can't have some fun with the eyeliner standby every now and then. The cat eyes all over the spring runways were more dramatic—a lot more dramatic—than a simple flick of the wrist. Check out our five favorite new ways to wear the look, as explained by contributing editor (and eyeliner master) Meirav Devash in our February issue (on newsstands January 27!).
Mild. Our hack for a perfect cat eye, like the one shown above from Dolce & Gabbana: Stamp three dots diagonally upward from the edge of the outer corner, then connect them with liner.
winged eyeliner

Exaggerated. Makeup artist Pat McGrath chose a brown-gray mix rather than classic black for the look shown here (from the Prada show). The worn-in effect kept the extra-long flick from looking too startling.
bright eyeliner

Colorful and wild. To create this lava-red swoosh from the Max Mara show, start at the inner corner and extend the line past the brow's outer edge using a combination of pencil and powder.
Givenchy eyeliner

Like, whoa. To mimic this look from the Givenchy show, use a stiff brush to sweep gray-brown cream from deep below the inner corner across the lid to the temple.
black eye shadow

Crazytown. To get this smeared effect models wore at the Ann Demeulemeester show, dip a small fan brush into cream liner, then drag it horizontally straight across the crease. The lines should blur together in the middle.
