Dark Lips: How to Try the Trend This Fall

What is deep, dark, and sexy—and my favorite fall beauty trend? Oxblood, burgundy, plum, dark red, whatever the hell you want to call it, lipstick. These vampy lips were seen at numerous fall shows, including Nanette Lepore, Rebecca Minkoff, and Rodarte, not to mention on plenty of celebrities (thank you, Lorde and Kim K.). And with all the different berry- and wine-stained shades out these days, rocking dark lipstick has never been easier. I dug through the Allure beauty closet to help you find the most seductive, dark shades of the season. So whether you’re going out for a night on the prowl or to the office—these are my top universally-flattering picks.
M.A.C. Lipstick in Cyber. A cool-tone boysenberry shade in a formula that’s not too glossy or matte. It’s also incredibly bold and looks great with a neutral face.
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Motorhead. It’s a matte black-cherry lipstick that I’m absolutely obsessed with. It stains your lips like you’ve been drinking red wine all night.
Nars Audacious Lipstick in Liv. Not only is it highly pigmented, supermoisturizing, and a pretty berry shade—it also has a satin finish. You’re bound to attract somebody’s attention with this little guy.
L'Oréal Paris Infallible Le Rouge in Bold Bordeaux. This chic bordeaux red is really easy to wear. It’s a little less vampiric but still gives full coverage.
