If there is anyone who knows about humidity, it’s someone from the humidity capital of America: Miami. Okay, so that’s not an official motto of Miami but, heck, if you’ve spent any time there you know it’s pretty darn true. So, we figured to get to the bottom of the fight against frizz we best speak to someone fighting in the trenches. Thus, we turned to hair stylistJennifer Taylor at Soho Beach House Miami’s Cowshed Spa for her favorite DIY recipes to fight frizz.

To Treat. Make a frizz-fighting mask by blending together 1 cup of pure coconut milk, 1 ripe avocado, 3 tablespoons of honey and 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix at high speed until smooth. Generously apply evenly to shampooed hair. (If you have fine hair, avoid your roots to keep your hair from falling limp). Allow to sit on hair for at least 15 minutes (and up to 1 hour depending on how much time you have). Rinse and follow with conditioner. Leftovers can be stored for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.

To Condition. For frizz control in humid weather, it’s essential to heavily condition. Throw your favorite conditioner into high gear by adding 1/4 cup of honey and 1 tablespoon of almond extract to 1/2 cup of your daily conditioner. Use as usual for a deep treatment that will leave your locks lovely and your tresses tamed.

To Style. Okay, so this is neither homemade nor a recipe, but in fighting frizz it’s also important to protect your hair from further damage, which ultimately makes hair even frizzier! So limit heat styling, use a product with a thermal protector to minimize damage and protect your hair from the sun too!
